Why this is on the board
You won't do research yourself, but you help the people who lead it: many of SPAR's 250 mentors are leading a team for the first time, and together they guide more than 800 newcomers to AI safety each round, the field that keeps powerful AI systems from causing serious harm. Help one mentor resolve a conflict or scope a project properly and a whole team notices, and in a few years some of those people will be working on the field's core questions themselves.
