Why this is on the board
This is not a job but start-up money: 20,000 to 200,000 dollars to spend six to twelve months setting up your own project in AI safety or biosecurity (preventing disasters involving pathogens), areas where few people yet work full-time. The leverage lies in what can come next: if your idea works, BlueDot puts you in touch with follow-on funders and potential colleagues, so that work grows beyond just you. If it doesn't, you find out after a few months rather than after years.
