Scientist, Plume Modeling and Forecasting

Why this is on the board
Whether it is ever wise to cool the earth with particles in the stratosphere depends on a question that is still open: how does such a plume behave in its first hours and days? This role translates those measurements into the global climate models, and with that into the evidence on which governments will later say yes or no.

About the role
Lead plume modelling and forecasting for stratospheric aerosol injection research, bridging small-scale simulations with global climate models. - Lead plume forecasting for balloon-based tracer campaigns over 24–72 hour horizons and develop in-house forecasting capabilities. - Run large-eddy and plume-resolving simulations from release through dispersion; translate results into parameterisations for global models. - Quantify forecast uncertainty and translate plume predictions into observing r…
