Why this is on the board
Many ideas for keeping AI systems safe, some drawn from neuroscience or physics, stay on paper because the person who came up with them has no team to test them. You build those experiments: most ideas fall through, but one that works opens a new research direction that others build on.

About the role
Funding and engineering support for alignment researchers pursuing high-risk, high-reward ideas beyond current institutional constraints. - Pursue novel alignment research directions with dedicated engineering teams providing up to execution support with minimal time commitment. - Ideas from adjacent fields (neuroscience, mathematics, physics) addressing alignment problems through interdisciplinary perspectives welcome. - Requires technical substance, clear theory of change, and field-making…
