This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback
Why this is on the board
Regulators can only enforce rules for what they can measure, and whether an AI model manipulates people can still barely be measured reliably. A test you design here can be rerun by regulators and other researchers on every new model. That way, a single piece of research can determine what every subsequent model is tested against.
About the role
Lead end-to-end research on evaluations of harmful AI manipulation for regulatory and public use.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
