This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback
Why this is on the board
Only a few experienced researchers worldwide work on the question of how to make powerful AI systems do what we intend — AI safety — and their guidance is what beginners lack most. SPAR connects the two, part-time and remotely; if it works, a single mentorship produces not just a project but also a researcher who keeps working on it for years afterwards.
About the role
Part-time remote mentorship programme pairing AI safety researchers with experienced mentors for structured alignment research. - Mentees receive guidance on AI safety research projects through one-on-one mentorship relationships. - Mentors support early-career researchers in developing alignment research skills and advancing their work. - Programme launches spring 2027; participants express interest via this form to join the next cohort.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
