This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback
Why this is on the board
Large AI companies know a lot about the techniques they use to make their models do what is intended, but those on the outside see little of it. This team rebuilds those techniques at scale and publishes openly when they work and when they fail. That lets other researchers check the findings and build on them, though the effect depends on who picks up the results.
About the role
Conduct empirical AI alignment research, running large-scale experiments and developing clear findings on frontier safety techniques.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
