This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback

Why this is on the board

This department helps decide how the Netherlands uses its money and its vote at UN organisations such as WHO, UNICEF and WFP. In 2027 the Netherlands also chairs the Utstein group, a circle of donor countries that together press for a better-functioning UN development system. As an intern you do not decide on money, but you see up close how a small team tries to steer organisations with budgets in the billions, and whether it succeeds.

About the role

Internship at the Directie Multilaterale Instellingen en Mensenrechten, the multilateral institutions and human rights department, at Rijnstraat 8, The Hague, for 40 hours at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, the Dutch foreign ministry

What do you make of this?

The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
