The work itself doesn't address an urgent global problem: you build the systems Adyen uses to monitor its own payment platform. The leverage lies not in the task but in the salary. Someone earning as a senior engineer in Amsterdam who gives a large share of that to charities with strong evidence can contribute more this way than through many jobs at charities themselves. That choice is called earning to give.
