Why this is on the board
Whether protein from fermentation ever becomes cheap enough to replace meat and dairy from livestock farming seems to depend largely on one technical question: can you run production continuously rather than in separate batches? In this internship you build such a continuous reactor from lab set-up to pilot, and what you document becomes the starting point for everyone who scales the design up afterwards.

About the role
Design and scale a continuous stirred-tank reactor for fermentation-based protein production from concept through pilot deployment. - Research CSTR mechanics, derive governing equations, and build bench-scale prototype with validation and iterative improvements. - Translate bench-scale learnings to pilot-scale CSTR construction and thoroughly document design for future team use. - Requires M.Sc. student (or exceptional B.Sc. candidate) in chemical, mechanical engineering, or applied mathemati…
