This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

Why this is on the board
The Centre for Effective Altruism helps people work out where their time and money do the most good, through courses, conferences and, recently, grants as well. The team grew from 42 to 66 staff in 2025. Whoever keeps contracts, payroll and onboarding running smoothly helps decide how quickly all those new colleagues can actually get on with their work.
About the role
We're hiring an HR Associate to help run the systems and operational side of People Operations at CEA. You'll own the processes that move people into, through, and out of the organisation: onboarding, contracts, expenses, payroll inputs, state and city tax filings, and the HR systems that connect them. You'll have real ownership of how these processes work, and the role includes projects to improve them with automation and AI. This position reports to Keighly Baron, HR Manager.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
