The work itself doesn't touch an urgent global problem: you build payment systems for flight bookings. The leverage lies in the salary: if, as a senior engineering manager, you donate a fixed share to charities that demonstrably achieve a great deal, you pay for work those organisations would otherwise leave undone. That's called earning to give, and it only works if you actually give the money.
