This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback
Why this is on the board
Many people first hear about effective altruism, the question of how to help others as well as you can with your time and money, through a newspaper article or podcast rather than through the organisation itself. In this role you become the person journalists turn to when they want a reliable source, and so you help decide whether that first impression is accurate; final decisions on strategy and crisis communications do, however, rest with the head of media.
About the role
The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) stewards the movement of people putting effective altruism principles into practice to solve the world's most pressing problems. We’re working to build a flourishing future by applying evidence, reason, and compassion to challenges like global poverty, animal suffering, and risks from transformative AI.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
