Why this is on the board
AI safety is a small field: a method for seeing what happens inside a language model, devised by a handful of researchers, is soon used by other labs too. This residency is a fast way in for experienced professors, founders and engineers from other fields. You work on a scoped project under supervision for six weeks to six months, so the biggest gain probably lies in what you go on to do in this field afterwards.
