This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

Why this is on the board
The Centre for Effective Altruism is building a worldwide community of people who look into how they can help others most, and wants to fill dozens more roles in 2026 and 2027. According to the organisation, recruitment is now the bottleneck: whoever runs hiring rounds here helps decide how quickly that happens and, above all, who ends up doing that work.
About the role
We're hiring a Recruiting Specialist to join the recruiting team at the Centre for Effective Altruism. This is a senior individual contributor role: you'll own full-cycle hiring rounds end-to-end, take on team-wide recruiting projects with significant autonomy, and help coach and develop other members of the recruiting team. You'll report to the Recruiting Manager and work closely with hiring managers across the organisation.

What do you make of this?
The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.

Start with our free course: about 100 minutes in six short units, at your own pace, with no sign-up. To go further, apply for the EA Fellowship: five weeks of reading and discussion in a small group. Also free, but selective.
