Jailbreaking Lead, Red Team

This role is on our board because we think it is an unusually effective way to spend a career. How we reason about it

Free to leave the Netherlands? Look at 80,000 Hours, Probably Good and EA Opportunities first — the strongest opportunities are there. Why we say this

This board is still in beta. The reason below is our judgement — tell us if you think we have it wrong. Give feedback

Why this is on the board

Whoever finds a universal exploit here changes not one system but the behaviour of models used by hundreds of millions of people: FAR.AI's findings demonstrably led to changes at OpenAI and Anthropic, and feed into evaluations for the EU and the British AI Security Institute. Independent testers that labs trust are rare, and this is the role that sets where that bar lies.

About the role

FAR.AI http://FAR.AI is seeking a Jailbreaking Lead (Red Team) whose personal mission and obsession is to jailbreak the world's leading frontier AI models. You will sit at the tip of the spear of one of the world's leading AI red-teams, with a single, critical focus: find the universal jailbreaks that no one else can find, in the models used by hundreds of millions of people, and make sure they get fixed.

What do you make of this?

The board is still in beta, so this is exactly the moment to say what you think. A vacancy we have missed, a judgement you do not share, something that does not work — all of it helps.
