Why this is on the board
War Child decides for itself which programmes get funding; whoever manages the budget, the data and the reporting has a hand in deciding which methods scale up and which stop. This role therefore sits closer to the question of how many children in conflict areas receive help than a finance function usually does.
About the role
Children stronger than war? Absolutely. But they cannot do it alone. That is why War Child provides mental health (emergency) support to children in conflict areas. Our approach is grounded in science, but fits seamlessly with how children experience the world. The result? Unique and proven effective methods, packaged as sport, play, music and creative activities. In this way we build on their natural resilience, so that they slowly dare to believe in the future again.
