Why this is on the board
AI safety research currently happens mainly in the US and the United Kingdom, while Chinese companies are also building the most powerful systems. Here you spend three months on your own research at a hub of Tsinghua University: the results are public, so others can build on them, and the contacts you make are one of the few direct lines between the two research communities.

About the role
A three-month, in-person, self-directed AI safety research residency in Beijing, starting April 2027, for technical researchers working on alignment, evals, oversight or control.
